Chairman's Message:
Dear ITS California Supporter:
As Chair of the ITS California Board of Directors, I welcome your interest in ITS California, an organization and 'gathering place' for public and private sectors alike. We are the association that represents the California Intelligent Transportation industry, and therefore we share a common objective: the deployment of Intelligent Transportation Systems to California’s and to the nation’s transportation systems.
The benefits of this 'gathering place' of like-minded members were evident during our 2007 Annual Meeting in Industry Hills. Throughout the meeting, member companies and organizations – in addition to a strong contingent of exhibitors – exchanged information and ideas on ITS innovation in California. We heard of emerging results in Federal and regional partnerships in California, such as the two pioneer sites of Integrated Corridor Management Systems to the just-started Urban Partnership Program; we heard about other congestion pricing implementations in California; we heard about ITS technologies and tools developed and applied in California -- for transportation systems management and also for transit; we heard about how California could be on the vanguard of Vehicle-Infrastructure Integration (or SafeTrip-21) or communications-enabled connectivity for mobility and safety applications.
I wish to note that we gather at multiple venues and at multiple times and we gather both physically and virtually. ITS California has now organized Northern and Southern California Sections and is working toward expanding into additional San Diego and Central Valley sections. The idea is to provide convenient regional networking opportunities and discussion forums. These Sections hold regular luncheon meetings and workshops on high-interest topics. Moreover, regional sections and the overall ITS California membership have in the works plans to conduct workshops and summits on statewide issues.
We invite you to join us, to hear other ideas and to have others hear your ideas. It is our goal to bring high value, information and connectivity to every member of ITS California. You can join by clicking the “Join ITS-CA” button within the “Membership” tab of this website.
Finally, if you are a member of ITS California, I thank you for your support and invite you to contact me and/or other members of the Board of Directors with comments, ideas and suggestions for ITS California to best represent you.
Sincerely,
Jim Misener
Chair, ITS California Board of Directors
