This web conference is a follow up to the June 2008 article in ITE
Journal titled "Real-Time Travel Time Estimates Using Media Access
Control Address Matching"
(http://www.ite.org/membersonly/itejournal/pdf/2008/JB08F.pdf). In this
article the authors described the basic principle of tracking consumer
Bluetooth devices to capture travel time, route choice, and other
operational metrics
Expanding on their existing work, Indiana Department of Transportation
extended the technique for event management during the Brickyard 400
NASCAR race. This web conference will be the first opportunity where
they are able to share the operational experience and results.
This web conference discusses an exceptionally low cost method for
agencies of any size to collect travel time and route choice
information. The techniques uses are simple and can easily be performed
with typical office laptop and software. Operational discipline and
programs that can benefits include but not limited to:
-Traveler Information
-Freeway and Arterial Performance Measurement
-Section 1201 compliance
-Planning
-Integrated Corridor Management
-Urban Partnership Agreements
State and Local transportation agencies are welcome and encouraged to
